Job Summary
Houseparents, Full-Time Flex Houseparents at Milton Hershey School provide care, guidance, supervision, and support for groups of approximately 8–13 students in on-campus homes. The role is a two-person, married-couple position residing in student homes, with a nine-on/three-off duty cycle initially and potential transition to a placed Houseparent living with the same group. Responsibilities include daily supervision and mentorship, managing household routines and student schedules, administering medications, driving students to activities, planning developmental and recreational activities, leading daily devotions and Sunday Chapel, and overseeing budgeting and household reporting. The position offers relocation assistance, paid training, comprehensive benefits, and salary around $46,917 per person (approx. $180,000 total per couple with benefits).
Required Qualifications
- Experience working or volunteering with youth
- This is a two-person role for couples legally married for at least two years
- Both spouses must be age 27 or older
- Valid U.S. driver’s license and ability to become certified to drive student home vans
- High school diploma or GED
- Ability to lift to 50 lbs
- Commitment to a smoke-free and weapon-free campus; no alcohol permitted while on duty
- Pet limitations: only fish and one dog of approved breeds allowed
- No more than three dependent children may reside in the student home
