Job Summary
Houseparents (Full-Time) for Milton Hershey School serve as a two-person married couple in on-campus student homes, providing daily supervision, mentorship, and care for ~8–13 students. Responsibilities include supervising routines, administering medications, driving students to activities, planning and engaging in developmental and recreational activities, leading daily devotions and Sunday Chapel, and managing household budgeting/reporting. The role begins with a nine-on/three-off schedule across multiple homes, with eventual placement into a dedicated home. Relocation is provided, and benefits include comprehensive health coverage, retirement options, paid time off, and housing/ meals on duty. Qualifications emphasize experience with youth, a legally married couple for at least two years, both spouses aged 27+, high school diploma or GED, valid driver’s license, ability to lift 50 lbs, and adherence to campus policies (smoke-free, weapon-free, limited pets). Required Qualifications
- Experience working or volunteering with youth
- Two-person role for couples legally married for at least two years
- Both spouses must be age 27 or older
- No more than three dependent children may reside in the student home
- Commitment to a smoke-free and weapon-free campus; no alcohol permitted while on duty
- Pet limitations: only fish and one dog of approved breeds allowed
- Valid U.S. driver’s license and ability to become certified to drive student home vans
- Ability to lift to 50 lbs.
- High school diploma or GED required
- Demonstrated integrity and professionalism; MHS staff serve as role models for students
