Job Summary
Houseparents for Milton Hershey School (MHS)—a two-person, full-time, on-campus role for legally married couples living in student homes. Initially serving multiple homes with a nine-days-on, three-days-off schedule, couples provide care, supervision, and mentorship to groups of 8–13 students, coordinating daily routines, medications, transportation to activities, and engagement in developmental and recreational activities. They lead daily devotions and attend Sunday Chapel, assist with budgeting and reporting, and may transition to a Placed Houseparent role living with the same student group. Relocation assistance is provided. Requires a high school diploma or GED, a valid U.S. driver’s license, ability to lift 50 lbs, and a commitment to a smoke- and weapon-free campus. For consideration, both spouses must complete individual employment applications.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Two-person role for couples legally married for at least two years
- Both spouses must be age 27 or older
- Valid U.S. driver’s license and ability to become certified to drive student home vans
- Ability to lift to 50 lbs.
- Comfort leading students in daily devotions and accompanying them to Judeo-Christian Sunday Chapel services (proselytizing prohibited)
- Experience working or volunteering with youth
- No alcohol permitted while on duty
- Smoke-free and weapon-free campus
