Job Summary
Full-time Flex Houseparents live on-campus at Milton Hershey School to care for a group of approximately 8–13 students in a home setting. Responsibilities include daily supervision and mentorship, managing household routines and student schedules, administering medications, driving students to activities, planning and engaging in developmental and recreational activities, leading daily devotions and Sunday Chapel, overseeing budgeting and household reporting, and transitioning to a placed houseparent with a stable home for the same student group. The role is a two-person job for married couples (both spouses must be legally married for at least two years and each must apply individually), with a nine-on/three-off schedule initially. Benefits include salary per-person of $44,768.00 (approximately $168,000 total per couple with housing/meal benefits), relocation assistance, comprehensive benefits, and paid time off. Qualifications include experience with youth, HS diploma or GED, valid U.S. driver’s license, ability to drive student vans, and ability to lead devotions and Chapel services. The position is located on-campus in Madison County, TN (US).
Required Qualifications
- Experience working or volunteering with youth
- Two-person role for couples legally married for at least two years
- Both spouses must be age 27 or older
- No more than three dependent children may reside in the student home
- Commitment to a smoke-free and weapon-free campus; no alcohol permitted while on duty
- Pet limitations: only fish and one dog of approved breeds allowed
- Valid U.S. driver’s license and ability to become certified to drive student home vans
- Comfort leading students in daily devotions and accompanying them to Judeo-Christian Sunday Chapel services (proselytizing prohibited)
- High school diploma or GED required
- Ability to lift to 50 lbs.
