Job Summary
Milton Hershey School seeks married couples for Full-time Flex Houseparents to live on campus in Hershey, PA, caring for a group of 8–13 students in a home setting. Responsibilities include daily supervision and mentorship, managing household routines and student schedules, administering medications, driving students to activities, planning and engaging in developmental and recreational activities, leading daily devotions and Sunday Chapel, overseeing budgeting and reporting, and transitioning to a Placed Houseparent role with the same group of students. The role is a two-person commitment for couples legally married for at least two years, with both spouses aged 27 or older; relocation benefits are provided and compensation is $46,917 per person (approx. $180,000 per couple) plus comprehensive benefits. Initial nine-days-on, three-days-off schedule applies, with eventual placement in a dedicated student home.
Required Qualifications
- Experience working or volunteering with youth
- Two-person role for couples legally married for at least two years
- Both spouses must be age 27 or older
- No more than three dependent children may reside in the student home
- Valid U.S. driver’s license and ability to become certified to drive student home vans
- High school diploma or GED required
- Ability to lift to 50 lbs
- Commitment to a smoke-free and weapon-free campus; no alcohol permitted while on duty
- Demonstrated integrity and professionalism; MHS staff serve as role models for students
- Prolezolocizing prohibited
- Comfort leading students in daily devotions and accompanying them to Judeo-Christian Sunday Chapel services
