Job Summary
Houseparents, Full-Time Flex Houseparents, live on-campus in Wheeler, MS, to supervise and guide a group of 8–13 students. The role involves daily supervision and mentorship, administering medications, driving students to activities, planning development and recreational activities, leading daily devotions and Chapel, overseeing budgeting and reporting, and transitioning from a nine-on/three-off schedule to a Placed Houseparent assignment with a long-term home for the same student group. The position supports a two-person married-couple team, with relocation provided and comprehensive benefits included. Applicants must be legally married for at least two years, both spouses age 27+, and hold a high school diploma or GED. Salary is $44,768 per person (about $168,000 total per couple). Relocation assistance and paid training are provided.
Required Qualifications
- Experience working or volunteering with youth
- Two-person role for couples legally married for at least two years
- Both spouses must be age 27 or older
- No more than three dependent children may reside in the student home
- Commitment to a smoke-free and weapon-free campus; no alcohol permitted while on duty
- Pet limitations: only fish and one dog of approved breeds allowed
- Valid U.S. driver’s license and ability to become certified to drive student home vans
- Comfort leading students in daily devotions and accompanying them to Judeo-Christian Sunday Chapel services (proselytizing prohibited)
- High school diploma or GED required
- Ability to lift to 50 lbs.
- Demonstrated integrity and professionalism; MHS staff serve as role models for students
