Job Summary
Houseparents for Milton Hershey School: Married couples live on campus as Full-Time Flex Houseparents in on-site student homes, supervising 8–13 students and guiding their academic, emotional, and social development. Responsibilities include supervising and mentoring students, managing household routines and schedules, administering medications, driving students to activities, planning developmental and recreational activities, leading daily devotions and Sunday Chapel, and overseeing budgeting and reporting. Initially, a nine-days-on, three-days-off schedule with gradual transition to a placed houseparent role, living and working with the same student group. Benefits include salary per person ($44,768) with total couple compensation around $168,000, comprehensive insurance, retirement options, relocation assistance, paid time off, and training. Requires two-year marriage, commitment to safety policies, high school diploma or GED, valid driver’s license, ability to lift 50 lbs, and other youth-facing experience. For consideration, both spouses must complete individual applications.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Valid U.S. driver’s license and ability to become certified to drive student home vans
- Ability to lift to 50 lbs
- Two-person role for couples legally married for at least two years
- Both spouses must be age 27 or older
- Experience working or volunteering with youth
- Commitment to a smoke-free and weapon-free campus; no alcohol on duty
- No more than three dependent children may reside in the student home
