Job Summary
Two-person, Full-Time Flex Houseparents at Milton Hershey School reside on campus in student homes to provide care, supervision, and guidance for 8–13 students. Responsibilities include supervising and mentoring students, managing household routines, administering medications, driving students to activities, planning and engaging in developmental/recreational activities, leading daily devotions and Sunday Chapel, overseeing budgeting and reporting, and adapting to a schedule of nine consecutive days on duty followed by three days off. The role progresses to a Placed Houseparent living with the same student group in their home. Requires high school diploma or GED, valid driver’s license, ability to lift 50 lbs, willingness to relocate to Hershey, PA, and a two-person, legally married relationship for at least two years. Relocation assistance and comprehensive benefits are provided.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required
- Two-year marriage duration (must be legally married for at least two years)
- Both spouses must be age 27 or older
- Valid U.S. driver’s license
- Ability to become certified to drive student home vans
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
- Commitment to a smoke-free and weapon-free campus; no alcohol while on duty
- Demonstrated integrity and professionalism; ability to serve as role models for students
- Willingness to reside in on-campus student homes and work with the same group of students
- Flex Houseparents initially follow a nine-on / three-off schedule; transition to Placed Houseparent later
