Job Summary
Houseparents, Full-Time Flex Houseparents at Milton Hershey School reside on campus in student homes to supervise 8–13 students, providing care, guidance, supervision, and development support. Responsibilities include daily supervision, managing routines and schedules, administering medications, driving students to activities, planning developmental and recreational activities, leading daily devotions and chapel, budgeting, and household reporting. Initially, nine consecutive days on duty followed by three days off, with eventual placement in a fixed student home. This is a two-person role for legally married couples, with both spouses aged 27 or older, and requires a high school diploma or GED, U.S. driver’s license, ability to lift 50 lbs, and compliance with campus rules.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required
- Two years of marriage required for both spouses
- Valid U.S. driver’s license
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
- Comfort leading daily devotions and chapel services
- Willingness to reside on-campus in student homes
- Ability to become certified to drive student home vans
- Capable of supervising and mentoring youth
- Commitment to a smoke-free and weapon-free campus; no alcohol on duty
