Job Summary
Houseparents for Milton Hershey School are a two-person, full-time on-campus role for legally married couples. The position involves living in a student home, supervising and mentoring 8–13 students, administering medications, driving students to activities, planning and engaging in developmental and recreational activities, leading daily devotions and Sunday Chapel, overseeing budgeting and reporting, and transitioning from nine days on/three off to a placed houseparent arrangement with a single student home. Relocation to Hershey, PA is required with comprehensive benefits and relocation support. The role emphasizes youth care, leadership, and family-like household management within a structured, faith-informed school environment.
Required Qualifications
- Experience working or volunteering with youth
- Two-person role for couples legally married for at least two years
- Both spouses must be age 27 or older
- No more than three dependent children may reside in the student home
- Commitment to a smoke-free and weapon-free campus; no alcohol permitted while on duty
- Pet limitations: only fish and one dog of approved breeds allowed
- Valid U.S. driver’s license and ability to become certified to drive student home vans
- Ability to lift to 50 lbs.
- High school diploma or GED required
- Demonstrated integrity and professionalism; MHS staff serve as role models for students
