Job Summary
Houseparents live on campus and manage a student home, providing daily care, structure, and supervision for a group of students. Responsibilities include coordinating routines (wake-up, meals, homework, recreation, bedtime), supporting students in developing study skills, life skills, and positive character traits, and communicating with teachers, administrators, health services, and other staff to monitor progress and behavior. The role emphasizes role-modeling, conflict resolution, and following school policies to maintain a safe, inclusive living environment. Duties also involve planning recreational activities and coordinating transportation for school functions, with housing provided and extended on-duty blocks balanced with time off. The position requires energy, empathy, patience, organizational ability, teamwork, and a commitment to equity, inclusion, and respect in a multicultural setting. Training and professional development are offered in areas like child development, behavior management, and trauma-informed practices.
