Job Summary
Houseparents live on campus at Milton Hershey School and manage a student home, providing daily care, structure, and supervision to a group of students. Responsibilities include coordinating wake-ups, meals, homework, recreation, and bedtimes; supporting students’ academic, social, and emotional growth; communicating with teachers and health services; coaching students in conflict resolution, life skills, and personal responsibility; planning and participating in community activities; and maintaining a safe, inclusive living environment. The role requires energy, empathy, organizational skills, and the ability to manage household logistics such as meal planning and transportation, with on-campus housing provided. Strong candidates will have experience with children or youth, comfort with a multicultural environment, and a collaborative, mission-driven mindset.
Required Qualifications
- Experience working with children or youth
- Teaching, coaching, social services, childcare, or residential care background
- Ability to follow established protocols
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
