Job Summary
Houseparents are full-time live-in staff who manage a student home on Milton Hershey School’s campus. They coordinate daily routines (wake-up, meals, homework, recreation, and bedtime), provide daily care, supervision, and guidance to a group of students, and collaborate with teachers, health services, and other staff to monitor progress and behavior. The role emphasizes role-modeling, conflict resolution coaching, and helping students develop study habits, life skills, character, and resilience in a supportive, inclusive, and trauma-informed environment. Housing is provided on campus, with schedules balancing on-duty blocks and time off. Candidates should have experience with children or youth, be comfortable in a multicultural setting, and demonstrate teamwork, clear communication, and adherence to school policies. The position targets mission-driven individuals or couples seeking long-term impact on students’ lives.
Required Qualifications
- experience working with children or youth—such as teaching, coaching, social services, childcare, or residential care
- ability to live on campus in school-provided housing
