Job Summary
Houseparent in a residential program provides live-on-site care for youth, maintaining a structured, therapeutic environment and implementing individualized care plans. Responsibilities include supervising residents, planning and facilitating recreational and enrichment activities, documenting daily activities and incidents, administering medications as needed, and dispensing restraints safely per training. Requires staying on-site during core shifts and supporting residents to meet treatment goals; duties include maintaining safety, health, and well-being, and working within trauma-informed care practices. Phase 1 offers hourly relief/in-wait with a schedule that includes morning and evening shifts; Phase 2 moves to a salaried long-shift on campus with a standard weekend-to-Wednesday schedule. Minimum qualifications include being 21+, valid driver’s license, ability to pass background checks and drug testing; preferred qualifications include some college or advanced degree in human services, experience with children/adolescents in 24-hour care, CPR/First Aid certification, and willingness to perform resident restraints per training. Compensation varies by phase and experience, with full benefits for full-time employees.
Required Qualifications
- Must be at least 21 years old
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
- Ability to pass FBI fingerprint check and pre-employment drug test per state licensing standards
- Meet employment standards set forth by the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services
- Willing and able to perform resident restraints in accordance with training
