Housekeeping Supervisor

Job Summary
Coordinate daily housekeeping and janitorial activities by scheduling assignments, directing staff, and completing tasks as needed. Evaluate employee performance through area rounds, verify compliance with directives, and conduct inspections to address cleanliness complaints and equipment conditions. Manage inventory by determining supply needs, requisitioning materials, controlling expenses, and ensuring proper storage. Train subordinates on job skills, safety practices, and fire prevention while overseeing onboarding and career development. Lead team meetings to cascade information, monitor project deadlines, and develop performance standards. Track department statistics to identify trends and problem areas. Participate in QI/QA meetings and special projects as required. Weekend and evening work may be necessary.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 1 year of housekeeping/janitorial management experience
- Superior customer service and communication skills
- Valid Ohio or Michigan driver's license
- Reliable personal transportation
- Proof of insurance
- Satisfactory driving record
- Thorough knowledge of the standard methods, equipment, and supplies used in large-scale housekeeping and janitorial activities
- Thorough knowledge of the qualities, adaptabilities, and uses of common tools, equipment, and materials used in cleaning and maintenance activities
- Thorough knowledge of methods used in the cleaning of buildings
- Thorough knowledge of occupational hazards and safety rules and regulations
- Considerable knowledge of vector control (integrated pest management) practices
- Considerable knowledge of employee policies and procedures
- Ability to operate and use tools and equipment of housekeeping and janitorial services
- Ability to maintain cleaning equipment and machinery
- Ability to develop work schedules making the most efficient use of subordinate staff
- Ability to train and supervise a group of employees
- Weekend and evening work
