Job Summary
Plan, organize, and supervise custodial workers for cleaning and maintenance of clinical and academic buildings, furniture, and fixtures. Schedule employees, assign duties, inspect work, investigate complaints regarding custodial services, and recommend corrective action. Purchase supplies and equipment, take periodic inventories, screen applicants, and train new employees. Prepare daily and monthly reports as established by the Director. Manage a diverse environment with a focus on client and customer services while assuring the highest degree of quality care is maintained at all times.
Required Qualifications
- Associates degree, vocational or technical school degree
- At least 5 years of work-related experience in working in facilities, janitorial, or custodial in a public facility or healthcare environment
- At least 5 years of supervisory or managerial responsibilities
- Able to read, understand, and follow written instructions, and comprehend verbal instructions given in English
- Specialty Training in Carpet Care, Customer Service, Floor Care and or Supervisor training
- Demonstrate thorough understanding of environmental service equipment, supplies, policies, and procedures
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to interface with a diverse and wide range of people
- Proficiency using internet-based programs, Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word
- Ability to prepare daily and monthly reports as established by Director
- Ability to manage in a diverse environment with focus on client and customer services
- Able to differentiate and appropriately handle situations involving patients, visitors, and family members in various age groups
- Must participate in self-development programs and activities
- Ability to walk and stand for long periods of time
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree
- Courses in personnel management, budgeting, cleaning principles and public relations
- Familiarity with DOH, JCAHO, DEP, EPA and SRBC regulations
- More than 2 years extensive knowledge and experience in custodial work loading and use of associated software
