Job Summary
Sweep, damp mop, and wet mop tile floors; vacuum carpeted rooms; dust and damp clean surfaces in patient rooms; empty trash cans; clean bathroom fixtures, sinks, and toilets; and wipe glass surfaces. Move furniture to clean behind and underneath, turn bed mattresses after cleaning, and change soiled privacy curtains or draperies as needed. Clean dining areas after meals, sweep outside porches and walkways, and pick up improperly disposed trash. Follow infection control standards, use isolation techniques when required, and recognize patient rights while treating patients and belongings with dignity. Safeguard chemicals by keeping them locked or in sight, and follow MSDS precautions. Clean and properly store housekeeping equipment, inspect it prior to use, and report repairs to the Maintenance Department. Maintain adequate supplies throughout the center and prevent wax or dirt build-up in corners and doorways.
Required Qualifications
- A high school diploma or its equivalent preferred
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or associates of the organization
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram format
- The ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations
- Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word
Desired Qualifications
- Understanding of basic cleaning principles and safety related to the handling of chemicals
