Job Summary
Conduct thorough cleaning of residents' rooms and residence common areas, including bathrooms, kitchens, carpets, and windows. Remove, fold, and return bed linens while washing and folding linens. Empty wastebaskets, maintain housekeeping carts in an orderly manner, and perform general pick-up outside as needed. Dust, polish, and wipe all surfaces, including woodwork and counters. Attend required in-service training and orientations. Fill other positions as needed when someone is out.
Required Qualifications
- Must have appropriate training and/or background in a similar setting
- The ability to maintain a clean and neat environment
- Knowledge of cleaning practices and substances
- The ability to identify cleaning needs and safety hazards
- The ability to communicate in English both orally and in writing
- Finger and hand dexterity to handle and manipulate instruments and equipment
- Visual and auditory acuity
- Must be able to lift a minimum of twenty-five (25) lbs.
- Must be able to carry objects
- Must be able to push and pull carts
- Must be able to continuously walk, sit and stand
- Must be able to turn, crouch, kneel, stoop, bend below waist, and reach above shoulder height
- Must use good body mechanics
- Must be able to use cleaning equipment, such as mops, brooms, vacuum cleaners, buffers, and chemicals in a safe manner
- Must be able to perform routine, repetitive tasks with consideration for residents, visitors, and any worker in the area
- Must project a positive attitude towards the service provided
- Associate may be subject to potential exposure to blood or other potentially infectious materials, and to handling hazardous chemicals (either Category 1 or 2)
Desired Qualifications
- A high school diploma or GED
- Previous housekeeping experience in health care or hospitality setting
