Job Summary
Follow cleaning schedules and instructions for resident rooms, offices, and public areas, including sweeping, vacuuming, and polishing furnishings. Wash, wipe, dust, disinfect, and deodorize walls, ceilings, windows, mirrors, hallways, stairways, and elevators. Empty wastebaskets, submit maintenance work orders, and report unsafe conditions or needed repairs. Clean model rooms for incoming residents, assist with laundry duties, and refill dispensers. Provide chemical and supply inventories, log water or heat temperatures, and follow infection control policies. Attend in-services and staff meetings as requested. Maintain janitor closets and supply rooms in an orderly manner. Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor or Administrator.
Required Qualifications
- Must be able to read, write and follow verbal and written directions at a level necessary to accomplish the job
- Ability to remain calm under stressful conditions and make decisions
- Must be able to communicate effectively with residents, families, staff, community officials, State officials, and general public
- Must have compassion for, and desire to work with, the elderly and understand their needs
- Must be able to work full or part time on a regular schedule
- Must meet all state health requirements
