Job Summary
Perform daily cleaning of resident rooms, recreational areas, hallways, and common spaces including sweeping, mopping, disinfecting, and polishing fixtures. Execute terminal cleaning procedures for discharged residents and maintain proper storage of all equipment and supplies. Adhere to infection control, fire-safety, and health department standards while reporting hazardous conditions, accidents, or equipment failures to the supervisor. Ensure work areas remain free of hazardous objects and maintain confidentiality of resident information.
Required Qualifications
- Ability to read, write, and speak English
- Ability to follow instructions
- Ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, and visitors
- Ability to properly use supplies and maintain equipment
- Ability to maintain appearance of housekeeping areas in a safe, clean, and comfortable manner
- Ability to work harmoniously with personnel
- Ability to seek new methods and principles
- Ability to be willing to incorporate new methods and principles into housekeeping practices
- Ability to follow written and oral instructions concerning the mixture of cleaning compounds, liquids, cleaning instructions, etc.
- Ability to follow established fire-safety policies and procedures
- Ability to assist others in lifting heavy equipment, supplies, etc., as directed or requested
Desired Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- One year experience in a health care facility
