Job Summary
Cleans patient rooms and ancillary areas using hospital-approved processes, immediately cleaning rooms upon discharge. Vacuums upholstered furniture and carpets, replaces soiled draperies, and spot cleans walls, light fixtures, and window frames. Collects soiled linen, distributes clean linens, and sanitizes garbage cans while properly disposing of bio-waste. Maintains floors through stripping, waxing, and buffing as needed, and takes daily inventory of supplies. Adheres to safety and infection prevention standards, wearing required protective equipment. Works during inclement weather and staffing emergencies to maintain a safe environment for patients, visitors, and staff.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- 1 year experience in hospital or skilled nursing facility
- Knowledgeable of appropriate healthcare environmental services procedures
- Effective organizational and time management skills
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to maintain quality, safety, and/or infection prevention standards
- Ability to work independently
- Ability to maintain proper levels of confidentiality
- Ability to work closely and professionally with others at all levels of the organization
- A significant amount of standing, walking, bending, reaching, lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling, often for prolonged periods of time
- Lifting/exerting of up to 50 lbs
- Close vision and the ability to adjust focus
- Ability to hear overhead pages
Desired Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred
- 1 year experience in hospital or skilled nursing facility preferred
