Job Summary
Cleans assigned hospital areas including patient rooms, exam rooms, and common spaces using established policies. Operates mechanized cleaning equipment and performs chemical mixing following safety procedures. Handles biohazard waste, trash collection, and linen management while complying with OSHA, EPA, and infection control regulations. Manages various cleaning solvents and responds to service requests via pager. Prioritizes tasks in conjunction with staff and patients, requiring comfort working in damp, dusty, or dirty environments. Performs routine assignments timely with minimal supervisory input.
Required Qualifications
- Must be able to work at least one weekend day
- Must handle various cleaning solvents, chemicals, etc.
- Must comply with all regulations such as OSHA, EPA, State Health Department, etc.
- Must be knowledgeable in Infection Control and Human Resources policies and procedures
- Requires working in damp, dusty and dirty areas
- Must clean up human waste and other body fluids, as required
- Must carry pager while working
Desired Qualifications
- Attention to detail and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment is preferred
- Prior experience in environmental services or a related field is a plus but not required
- Demonstrates knowledge of right to know law (MSDS)
- Communicates effectively with coworkers and supervisor
- Begins work on time with enthusiasm and positive attitude
- Little or no supervisory input needed
