Job Summary
Mop floors, vacuum carpets, disinfect restrooms, and strip/wax hard floors across campus buildings and residence halls. Clean walls, doors, and spills; maintain assigned equipment in operational condition; and perform vehicle inspections while driving University vehicles for in-campus moves. Haul trash to disposal sites, deliver mail, and assist with recycling. Set up and break down tables and chairs for special events, support duplicating and mail centers, and handle work orders. Perform duties Monday through Friday, Sunday through Saturday, including weekends and nights. Maintain a clean, neat uniform and follow safety practices.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- One (1) year of custodial experience and floor maintenance in an educational or hospitality environment
- Must clear and maintain a favorable background investigation and clearance
- Must be able to work evenings and/or weekends as needed
- Must have the ability to demonstrate basic computer skills
- Must be proficient in speaking, reading, and writing English
- Must have ability to read written instructions, warning labels, SDS Sheets in English
- Must possess legible handwriting
- Must possess eyesight in both eyes corrected to 20/20
- Must possess normal hearing ability
- Must successfully pass a PIPIC test for color blindness
- Must be able to successfully handle frustrating conditions such as limits on time and limited access to equipment
- Ability to communicate effectively and display good judgment when providing customer service
- Able to carry 50 pounds up and down stairs
- Must be able to work outside and inside, on slippery or uneven walking surfaces
- Must be able to work in extreme hot and cold temperatures
- Must be able to work in inclement weather
- Must be able to work around gas lines
- Must be able to work around machinery with moving parts
- Must be able to work in tight or enclosed spaces
- Must be able to work irregular hours
