Job Summary
Under the EVS Supervisor, clean assigned areas including operating rooms, patient rooms, bathrooms, and administrative offices daily. Stock housekeeping supplies per PAR levels, perform floor maintenance like scrubbing and waxing, and execute terminal cleaning and decontamination of clinical areas and equipment. Manage trash pickup, maintain janitorial closets, and post safety signs while adhering to infection control and PPE protocols. Report chemical spills and hazardous conditions immediately, identify patient safety risks, and complete additional duties as assigned. Weekend rotation required.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent education
- Weekend rotation required
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Must be able to stand for long periods of time
- Must be able to push and pull with an exertion of up to 50 lbs.
- Must maintain proper attire while in the operating room and restricted areas, including use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Must follow standard precautions and safe practices in handling of biohazardous material, and use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Must report all chemical spills immediately to management
- Must understand MDRO sheets in case of exposure
- Must assure that chemicals are used, stored, and maintained in a safe manner according to manufacturer's recommendations
- Must keep the patient environment clean using standard procedures in cleaning and maintenance of rooms, offices and common areas
- Must identify potential risks to patients to reduce incidence of injury
- Must identify actions to eliminate, minimize or report risks
- Must identify procedures to follow in the event of an incident
- Must report processes for common problems, failures, and user errors
- Must maintain janitorial closets in a clean and orderly fashion
- Must post appropriate safety signs to assure a safe environment is maintained for patients, visitors, and all staff
- Must assure housekeeping supplies are stocked daily and according to established PAR levels
- Must perform proper terminal cleaning daily per hospital policy and procedure
- Must demonstrate proper decontamination of clinical areas, equipment, and non-disposable supplies according to hospital policies and procedures
- Must complete additional duties as needed and assigned
- Must follow established PAR levels
- Must adhere to safety and infection control requirements
Desired Qualifications
- 1 year experience of Environmental Services and/or housekeeping in an ambulatory/surgical setting
