Job Summary
Maintain the community in an orderly, clean, and sanitary condition by following established cleaning schedules for dusting, vacuuming, sweeping, mopping common areas, deep cleaning resident rooms, and sanitizing bathrooms. Respond promptly to resident, family, and visitor requests for assistance while serving and assisting residents in the dining room daily. Communicate effectively in a language each resident understands, demonstrate empathy, kindness, and respect, and participate in leisure activities provided to residents. Observe and report safety hazards immediately, practice safe working habits, and comply with emergency procedures and HIPAA regulations.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- one year related experience and/or training
- equivalent combination of education and experience
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos
- Ability to write simple correspondence
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions
- Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations
- Ability to regularly stand

- Ability to know, understand, and comply with HIPAA regulations
- Ability to provide 'hands-on' assistance when requested or needed by nursing staff while working in the community
- Ability to participate in leisure activities provided to residents as described in the activity calendar
- Ability to serve and assist residents in the dining room at breakfast, lunch and dinner daily
- Ability to take on special projects or assignments outside of regular duties willingly
- Ability to perform all other reasonable duties as assigned or as requested
- Ability to be considered essential personnel during emergencies and/or inclement weather
- Ability to report or remain at community until released by supervisor during emergencies and/or inclement weather
- Ability to work as a team player with other associates and management in accomplishing work assignments
- Ability to always demonstrate a positive and respectful attitude about work issues, policies and procedures
- Ability to know, understand and follow established policy and procedures in emergency situations
- Ability to observe and report safety hazards immediately to supervisor
- Ability to practice good body mechanics and safe working habits
- Ability to maintain a safe and secure working environment free of objects/situations that could cause harm and/or falls to residents, families visitors and associates
- Ability to respond promptly and courteously to resident's, families, and visitors requests for assistance

- Ability to communicate effectively in a language that each resident is capable of understanding
- Ability to ensure and support a dignified and caring atmosphere for residents, families, visitors, and associates
- Ability to maintain a clean, safe, and orderly environment for all residents
- Ability to clean carpets and mop all floors upon request
- Ability to clean and sanitize bathrooms
- Ability to clean administrative offices as scheduled
- Ability to follow established schedule for 'deep cleaning' of resident rooms
- Ability to complete daily dusting, vacuuming, sweeping and mopping of all common areas
