Job Summary
Conduct daily dusting, vacuuming, sweeping, and mopping of common areas; perform deep cleaning of resident rooms and sanitize bathrooms. Maintain a clean, safe, and orderly environment by promptly responding to resident and visitor requests while serving and assisting residents in the dining room. Communicate effectively using a language each resident understands and provide hands-on assistance to nursing staff when needed. Observe and report safety hazards immediately, adhere to established cleaning schedules, and comply with HIPAA regulations and emergency protocols. Participate in leisure activities and attend mandatory trainings while wearing appropriate dress per policy.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- one year related experience and/or training
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos
- Ability to write simple correspondence
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions
- Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations
- Ability to perform each essential duty satisfactorily

- Must refrain from discussing resident issues with families and visitors and refer all inquiries to immediate nursing supervisor
- Must know, understand, and comply with HIPAA regulations
- Must provide 'hands-on' assistance when requested or needed by nursing staff while working in the community
- Must participate in leisure activities provided to residents as described in the activity calendar
- Must serve and assist residents in the dining room at breakfast, lunch and dinner daily
- Must take on special projects or assignments outside of regular duties willingly
- Must perform all other reasonable duties as assigned or as requested
- Must be considered essential personnel during emergencies and/or inclement weather
- Must be required to report or remain at community until released by supervisor during emergencies and/or inclement weather
- Must work as a team player with other associates and management in accomplishing work assignments
- Must always demonstrate a positive and respectful attitude about work issues, policies and procedures
- Must know, understand and follow established policy and procedures in emergency situations
- Must observe and report safety hazards immediately to supervisor
- Must practice good body mechanics and safe working habits
- Must maintain a safe and secure working environment free of objects/situations that could cause harm and/or falls to residents, families visitors and associates
- Must respond promptly and courteously to resident's, families, and visitors requests for assistance
- Must speak to/interact with residents showing empathy, kindness, compassion, and respect
- Must communicate effectively in a language that each resident is capable of understanding
- Must ensure and support a dignified and caring atmosphere for residents, families, visitors, and associates
- Must maintain a clean, safe, and orderly environment for all residents
- Must clean carpets and mop all floors upon request
- Must clean and sanitize bathrooms
- Must clean administrative offices as scheduled
- Must follow established schedule for 'deep cleaning' of resident rooms
- Must complete daily dusting, vacuuming, sweeping and mopping of all common areas
