Job Summary
HWRC Operative role involving outdoor public-facing duties at Carnforth HWRC. Responsibilities include meeting and greeting customers, advising on waste deposit procedures, assisting with depositing waste, maximizing waste separation for recycling/re-use, explaining re-use/recycling processes, upholding council policies on health and safety and environmental standards, and supporting site operations under guidance from the Site Supervisor. Duties also cover daily instructions to meet service standards, site maintenance, operation of specialist mechanical plant and compaction equipment, and assisting in running re-use shops. Role requires strong customer service, clear communication, ability to help with lifting heavy items, and willingness to work weekends/bank holidays and potentially travel to other facilities within a reasonable distance.
Required Qualifications
- Certificates of basic competence for the delivery of site operations (e.g., first aid and use of mechanical plant)
- Ability to follow instructions
- Ability to communicate accurately and professionally with customers
- Ability to operate basic mobile or mechanical plant
