Job Summary
House Parents for married couples reside on campus in student homes to provide care, supervision, and guidance for 8–13 students. The role begins as Full-time Flex Houseparents with a nine-on, three-off schedule, transitioning to a Placed Houseparent with the same group of students. Responsibilities include daily supervision, mentorship, managing routines and schedules, administering medications, driving students to activities, planning developmental/recreational activities, leading daily devotions and Sunday Chapel, budgeting and reporting, and ensuring student wellness. Requirements include being legally married for at least two years, both spouses aged 27+, high school diploma or GED, valid U.S. driver’s license with ability to become certified to drive student vans, ability to lift up to 50 lbs, and commitment to a smoke- and weapon-free campus; relocation assistance and paid training are provided. The role is based in Hershey, PA, with on-campus housing and benefits; both spouses must complete individual applications for consideration.
Required Qualifications
- Experience working or volunteering with youth
- This is a two-person role for couples legally married for at least two years
- Both spouses must be age 27 or older
- No more than three dependent children may reside in the student home
- Valid U.S. driver’s license and ability to become certified to drive student home vans
- Ability to lift to 50 lbs.
- Demonstrated integrity and professionalism; MHS staff serve as role models for students
- High school diploma or GED required
- Commitment to a smoke-free and weapon-free campus; no alcohol permitted while on duty
- Comfort leading students in daily devotions and accompanying them to Judeo-Christian Sunday Chapel services (proselytizing prohibited)
