Job Summary
House Parents (two-person, married couple) at Milton Hershey School relocate to Hershey, PA to reside in on-campus student homes and supervise a group of approximately 8–13 students. Responsibilities include supervising and mentoring students, managing household routines and schedules, administering medications, driving students to activities, planning and engaging in developmental and recreational activities, leading daily devotions and chapel visits, and overseeing budgeting and household reporting. Schedule starts with nine consecutive days on duty followed by three days off, with eventual placement as a Houseparent living with the same student group. Requires high school diploma or GED, a valid U.S. driver’s license, ability to lift up to 50 lbs, experience with youth, and a commitment to a smoke-free, weapon-free campus with no alcohol on duty. Both spouses must complete individual applications and be at least 27 years old. Includes relocation assistance and comprehensive benefits granting approx. $168,000 total compensation per couple.
Required Qualifications
- Experience working or volunteering with youth
- Two-person role for couples legally married for at least two years
- Both spouses must be age 27 or older
- High school diploma or GED
- Valid U.S. driver’s license
- Ability to lift to 50 lbs
- Comfort leading students in daily devotions and accompanying them to Judeo-Christian Sunday Chapel services (proselytizing prohibited)
- Relocation to on-campus role at Milton Hershey School in Hershey, PA
- Willingness to reside in on-campus student homes and follow a nine days on, three days off schedule
- Proven integrity and professionalism in a school/community setting
- Ability to drive student home vans
- Demonstrated ability to supervise and mentor youths
- Commitment to a smoke-free and weapon-free campus
- No more than three dependent children may reside in the student home
