Job Summary
Married couples are hired as Full-time Flex Houseparents at Milton Hershey School in Hershey, PA. The role involves living in on-campus student homes and supervising 8–13 students, providing care, mentorship, and supervision, administering medications, driving students to activities, planning and participating in developmental and recreational activities, leading daily devotions and Sunday Chapel, and overseeing budgeting and household reporting. Schedule starts with nine consecutive days on duty followed by three days off, with eventual placement as a Placed Houseparent living and working with the same group of students. Benefits include salary per person, relocation assistance, comprehensive insurance, retirement options, and paid time off.
Required Qualifications
- Experience working or volunteering with youth
- Two-person role for couples legally married for at least two years
- Both spouses must be age 27 or older
- No more than three dependent children may reside in the student home
- Valid U.S. driver’s license and ability to become certified to drive student home vans
- High school diploma or GED required
- Ability to lift to 50 lbs.
- Commitment to a smoke-free and weapon-free campus; no alcohol permitted while on duty
- Demonstrated integrity and professionalism; MHS staff serve as role models for students
