Job Summary
Married couples are hired as Full-time Flex Houseparents at Milton Hershey School in Hershey, PA to reside in on-campus student homes and provide care, guidance, supervision, and support for a group of approximately 813 students. Responsibilities include supervising and mentoring students, managing household routines and schedules, administering medications, driving students to activities, planning and engaging in developmental and recreational activities, leading daily devotions and Sunday Chapel, and overseeing budgeting and household reporting. The role begins with a nine-on/three-off schedule and may transition to a Placed Houseparent living with the same group of students. Benefits include a salary of $44,768 per person (approx. $168,000 total per couple, including free housing, meals on duty, utilities, and more), comprehensive medical/dental/vision insurance, retirement savings, life and disability options, relocation assistance, paid time off, and paid training.
Required Qualifications
- Experience working or volunteering with youth
- Two spouses must be legally married for at least two years
- Both spouses must be age 27 or older
- High school diploma or GED
- Valid U.S. driver’s license and ability to become certified to drive student home vans
- Ability to lift to 50 lbs
- Commitment to a smoke-free and weapon-free campus; no alcohol permitted while on duty
- Proven integrity and professionalism; ability to serve as role models for students
- Willingness to reside on-campus and follow a rotating schedule (nine days on, three days off)
Additional Requirements
- Two-person role for couples legally married for at least two years
- Both spouses must be age 27 or older
- No more than three dependent children may reside in the student home
- Must complete individual employment applications
