Job Summary
House Parents at Milton Hershey School (MHS) are a two-person, full-time Flex Houseparent team that resides on campus in student homes and provides care, guidance, supervision, and development support for approximately 8–13 students. Responsibilities include daily supervision, mentorship, managing household routines and student schedules, administering medications, driving students to activities, planning developmental and recreational activities, leading daily devotions and Sunday Chapel, overseeing budgeting and household reporting, and adapting to a nine-days-on, three-days-off schedule before transitioning to a Placed Houseparent role. Benefits include a salary of $46,917 per person (about $180,000 per couple), comprehensive medical/dental/vision insurance, retirement plans, relocation assistance, paid training, and PTO. Qualifications require experience with youth, a legally married two-person team of at least two years, both spouses aged 27+, adherence to campus policies (smoke-free, weapon-free, no alcohol on duty), a valid US driver’s license with ability to drive student vans, a high school diploma or GED, ability to lift 50 lbs, and demonstrated integrity and professionalism. Required Qualifications
- Experience working or volunteering with youth
- Two-person role for couples legally married for at least two years
- Both spouses must be age 27 or older
- No more than three dependent children may reside in the student home
- Commitment to a smoke-free and weapon-free campus; no alcohol permitted while on duty
- Pet limitations: only fish and one dog of approved breeds allowed
- Valid U.S. driver’s license and ability to become certified to drive student home vans
- Comfort leading students in daily devotions and accompanying them to Judeo-Christian Sunday Chapel services (proselytizing prohibited)
- High school diploma or GED required
- Ability to lift to 50 lbs
- Demonstrated integrity and professionalism; MHS staff serve as role models for students
