Job Summary
Full-time Flex Houseparents reside on campus at Milton Hershey School to supervise and guide a group of 8–13 students in a home-like setting. Responsibilities include daily supervision and mentorship, managing household routines and student schedules, administering medications, transporting students to activities, planning and engaging in developmental and recreational activities, leading daily devotions and Sunday Chapel, and overseeing budgeting and household reporting. After an initial nine-days-on, three-days-off cycle, Houseparents may transition to a placed Houseparent role, living and working with the same group of students in their own home. Relocation assistance and paid training are provided, with comprehensive benefits; salary is per person with total compensation reflecting housing and other benefits.
Required Qualifications
- Two-person role for couples legally married for at least two years
- Both spouses must be age 27 or older
- No more than three dependent children may reside in the student home
- High school diploma or GED required
- Valid U.S. driver’s license and ability to become certified to drive student home vans
- Commitment to a smoke-free and weapon-free campus; no alcohol permitted while on duty
- Demonstrated integrity and professionalism; MHS staff serve as role models for students
