Job Summary
Full-time Flex Houseparents for Milton Hershey School. Couples reside in on-campus student homes and provide care, guidance, supervision, and support for a group of approximately 8–13 students. Responsibilities include daily supervision and mentorship, administering medications, driving students to activities, planning and engaging in developmental and recreational activities, leading daily devotions and Sunday Chapel, budgeting and household reporting, and eventually transitioning to a Placed Houseparent role with the same students. Work schedule starts with nine consecutive days on duty followed by three days off, with unscheduled time on weekdays while students are in school. Benefits include salary per person ($44,768), comprehensive insurance, retirement options, relocation assistance, paid training, and designated paid time off; two-person couple must be legally married for at least two years and both spouses must participate in separate applications.
Required Qualifications
- Experience working with youth
- High school diploma or GED
- Two-person role for couples (married for at least two years)
- Both spouses must be age 27 or older
- Valid U.S. driver’s license
- Ability to become certified to drive student home vans
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
- Comfort leading students in daily devotions and accompanying them to Judeo-Christian Sunday Chapel services (proselytizing prohibited)
- Commitment to a smoke-free and weapon-free campus; no alcohol permitted while on duty
- Pet limits: only fish and one dog of approved breeds allowed
