Job Summary
Manage nursing services on the assigned shift by planning, organizing, and controlling all departmental activities to ensure safe, effective, and efficient care. Implement and enforce work standards compliant with hospital policies and regulatory requirements while serving as a role model for staff. Evaluate shift operations using total quality management concepts to recommend changes and ensure adequate staffing and supplies. Determine patient placement based on care needs, coordinate transfers, and provide direct patient care when higher skill levels are required. Relieve the Director of Nursing and function as a house supervisor as needed. Interview, select, evaluate, and discipline personnel; reassign staff according to patient classification systems. Maintain up-to-date field knowledge to recommend new services and attend professional development programs. May work off shifts, weekends, holidays, and on-call rotations with more than standard hours.
Required Qualifications
- Graduation from an approved school of nursing
- Current non-limited license in state
- Minimum of three (3) years experience
- Demonstrated management skills
- Demonstrated clinical skills
