Job Summary
House Manager oversees assigned residential programs by directly supervising Lead DSPs and DSPs, conducting on-site observations, and ensuring compliance with organizational processes and procedures. This role ensures that resident support needs are met and that residential programs operate in alignment with federal and state regulations, Heart Havens’ mission and core values, and internal policies. Responsibilities include overseeing daily operations, maintaining safety and compliance, coordinating with the Regional Program Manager to improve program performance, developing staff schedules, delivering direct resident support (including medication administration and ADLs), guiding staff through performance evaluations and training, addressing staffing and documentation needs, coordinating with Support Coordinators and families, facilitating ISP development and updates, advocating for residents, ensuring accurate documentation, managing health records and health appointments, participating in on-call rotations, and maintaining budgetary guidelines. Requires a 2-year degree in Human Services or related field (or equivalent experience) with leadership experience, Virginia driver’s license, certifications in Therapeutic Options, Medication Administration, and First Aid/CPR/AED, and ability to perform duties including potential driving up to 8 hours, lifting up to 25 pounds, and cross-training at regional group home locations.
Required Qualifications
- 2-year degree in Human Services or related field with a minimum of 3 years related leadership experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Must have 5 years of related leadership experience if using experience to replace degree requirement.
- Valid Virginia driver’s license
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
- Maintain required certifications, including Therapeutic Options, Medication Administration, and First Aid/CPR/AED
- Ability to provide direct support, which includes cross-training at group home locations within region, possible behavior management interventions, ADLs assistance, and driving up to 8 hours; may require standing/walking for long periods; lifting up to 25 pounds
- Experience supervising Lead DSPs and DSPs; conducting supervision meetings; performance evaluations; corrective actions
- Knowledge of person-centered planning and residential program management
- Understanding of resident health management including medication administration and health records
- Experience with ISP development and documentation
- Ability to manage staff schedules and budgeting
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Experience with DBHDS serious incident reporting guidelines
