Job Summary

Required Qualifications

• •A baccalaureate degree in social work or psychology
• •Two years of professional experience working with children
• •One year of professional experience in a residential facility for children
• •A high school diploma or General Education Development Certificate (G.E.D.)
• •Five years of professional experience working with children
• •Two years of professional experience in a residential facility for children
• •A combination of education and experience working with children as approved by the department
• •Current certification in or ability to obtain certification in medication administration
• •Up-to-date certification in the facility's Behavior Management Program
• •Certifications in CPR/First Aid
• •Training in the REVIVE! Opioid Overdose Education and Naloxone Administration (or similar) and willingness to administer naloxone
• •A valid driver's license and good driving record
• •DBHDS Trained Investigator training
• •Ability and willingness to physically perform all functions of the facility's Behavior Management Program
• •Good physical health
• •Current with annual TB screening
• •Ability to traverse the residential home as well as the surrounding areas, and/or other locations, which may include uneven terrain or stairs
• •Ability to lift 25 lbs
• •Ability to regularly lift up to 15 pounds
• •Periodic transportation of a client as needed or required
• •Periodic transportation of other staff members as needed or required
• •Periodic travel to other locations as needed or required
• •Working knowledge of psychiatric diagnoses
• •Strong organization and time-management skills
• •Professional writing skills
• •Open to giving and receiving professional feedback
• •Knowledge of professional boundaries and an ability to role model appropriate behaviors to youth
• •Ability to support constructive family contact and involvement in community activities
• •Ability to work effectively with others, including but not limited to the treatment team and other internal and external stakeholders
• •Working knowledge of group dynamics and a basic understanding of psychiatric diagnosis
• •Ability to provide sound documentation during routine shift coverage
• •Strong relationship skills with the youth being served as well as with professional colleagues
• •Ability to be flexible in hours
• •The temperament to work with, and care for, children and families with special needs
• •Sense of humor
• •Must demonstrate sensitivity to Elk Hill's service population's cultural and socioeconomic characteristics
• •Must be able to lift 50 lbs

Desired Qualifications

• •A baccalaureate degree in social work or psychology and two years of professional experience working with children one year of which must have been in a residential facility for children
• •A high school diploma, or a General Education Development Certificate (G.E.D.), and a minimum of five years professional experience working with children with at least two years in a residential facility for children
• •A combination of education and experience working with children as approved by the department
• •Hold current certification in or ability to obtain certification in medication administration
• •Must have up-to-date certification in the facility's Behavior Management Program and can apply such skills as needed and required in the day-to-day interactions with youth
• •Certifications in CPR/First Aid
• •Must be trained in the REVIVE! Opioid Overdose Education and Naloxone Administration (or similar) training and be willing to administer naloxone in the event of a suspected overdose
• •Maintain a valid driver's license and good driving record
• •Maintain DBHDS Trained Investigator training
• •Ability and willingness to physically perform all functions of the facility's Behavior Management Program
