Job Summary
Head Lifeguard – Athletics on campus is responsible for serving as manager on duty in the absence of the Aquatic Facility Director and ensuring a safe swimming environment for the public. Responsibilities include performing lifeguard duties, supervising staff, reporting maintenance needs, scheduling lifeguards for adequate coverage, assisting with public relations, and conducting weekly in-service training. The role requires weekend and holiday availability, on-campus work, and leadership of aquatic staff when the director is not present.
Required Qualifications
- High School Degree or equivalent
- 1 year of Lifeguarding Experience
- American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification
- Must be able to swim proficiently
- Must have clear verbal communication skills
- At least 1-year previous aquatic experience including Lifeguarding and public relations
- Must have demonstrated ability to deal with staff and the public in a positive manner
- Must be able to enforce departmental policies
- Must attend the pre-season aquatic staff training
- Must be dependable, confident, self-motivated, outgoing, energetic, and ability to problem solve
