Job Summary
Plans, directs and supervises store team members across various departments to drive customer service and store sales while maintaining company standards. Serves as mentor and coach, oversees staffing and hiring, promotes career development and promotion decisions, and applies disciplinary actions when necessary. Responsible for P&L, shrink control, and achieving sales objectives. Models exceptional customer service, communicates the Meijer Friendly Initiative, ensures thorough training, and maintains a safe, well-presented store during peak hours. Requires leadership, conflict resolution, multi-tasking, financial analysis, and the ability to lead a team through rotational assignments and cross-training. Offers comprehensive benefits and development programs and emphasizes work-life balance and career growth.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or its equivalent required
- 2-3 years of related retail experience
- One year of management experience
- Rotational assignments in other areas of the store (meat, bakery, produce, deli) or related customer service and product flow experience
- Demonstrated ability to communicate clear direction to team
- Demonstrated ability to resolve conflicts and manage multiple tasks
- Demonstrated ability to analyze financial and statistical information and use it to make decisions
- Demonstrated ability to teach suggestive selling
- Demonstrated ability to mentor team members (including SDITs, hourly team members, and team leaders)
- Successful completion of required certifications
