Hotel Sales Manager

Job Summary
Solicit and sell hotel, banquet, and restaurant services through in-person, email, and telephone calls, with over 50% of the week dedicated to outside sales and new account development. Respond to inquiries from customers, prospects, and the corporate office, preparing proposals, confirmations, and conducting property tours for group bookings. Collaborate with other departments on upcoming events, maintain customer databases, and generate future business while tracking market competition and developing marketing plans to build occupancy. Act as Manager on Duty to direct banquet and catering staff when the Director of Sales is absent.
Required Qualifications
- Associate's degree (AA) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school
- one to two years related experience and/or training
- equivalent combination of education and experience
- valid driver's license
- proof of insurability
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret general accounting reports, policies & procedures, and instructions
- Ability to read and implement safety policies & procedures
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to complaints or inquiries from groups of managers, customers, employees and general public
- Ability to communicate clearly in person, by telephone and in writing
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume
- Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry
- Ability to define problems, collects data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
- Ability to interpret an extensive variety of instructions in mathematical, formula or procedural form and deal with several abstract variables
- Must be able to handle a crisis in a calm, effective manner
- Must be able to handle upset guests
- Must be able to handle fire

- Must be able to handle armed robbery and assault
- Must be able to handle bomb threats
