Job Summary
Hotel Maintenance Technician at The Study at Johns Hopkins responsible for maintaining preventive maintenance procedures across guest rooms, kitchen, public spaces, and grounds; coordinating with departments to address maintenance needs; maintaining knowledge of building systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, kitchen furnishings, internet infrastructure); and ensuring guest satisfaction through courteous service and brand-aligned responses while upholding safety and standards. Requires vocational certification/experience in building trades (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, carpentry) and prior hotel maintenance experience; strong communication, organizational, and safety skills; ability to lift up to 50 pounds; and compliance with drug test and background check processes.
Required Qualifications
- Education: Vocational schooling, military training, certification, and/or experience in building-related trades required in HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing, and Carpentry
- Experience: Must have some experience at a comparable location. Prior hotel experience preferred
- Ability to remain calm in stressful situations
- Remains current on technology advances and safety protocols and makes recommendations on new practices to implement
- Demonstrated knowledge of security and safety programs
- Excellent verbal and written interpersonal communication skills
- Strong organizational skills, including follow-up, time management, ability to multi-task and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to positively communicate and interact with all hotel departments, external vendors, and guests
- Ability to stand for long periods of time and be able to consistently lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects up to 50 pounds
