Hotel Maintenance Tech

Job Summary

Coordinate all maintenance functions to ensure the hotel remains clean, orderly, and safe by performing daily walk-arounds, monitoring equipment, and executing emergency repairs. Lead aesthetic improvement projects including painting, drywall repairs, and minor building fixes while assisting housekeeping with furniture relocation. Respond promptly to guest, vendor, and staff requests for assistance, adhering to established safety protocols and emergency procedures. Wear appropriate dress per policy and maintain a positive attitude throughout all interactions.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • one to two years related experience and/or training
  • equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
  • Ability to speak effectively before customers or associates of the organization
  • Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's
  • Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight, measurement, volume and distance
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations

  • Must be able to be considered essential personnel during emergencies (during and after-hours) and/or inclement weather
  • Must be able to report or remain at hotel until released by supervisor during emergencies
  • Must be able to comply with attendance and call off policy
  • Must be able to attend and/or participate in trainings, in-service and mandatory meetings
  • Must be able to willingly take on special projects or assignments outside of regular duties
  • Must be able to wear clean and appropriate dress per established dress code policy
  • Must be able to react and take the lead in emergency repairs of any kind regarding equipment breakdown
  • Must be able to assist in monitoring, coordinating or completing maintenance duties
  • Must be able to assist housekeeping with moving furniture in rooms
  • Must be able to relocate guests when appropriate
  • Must be able to coordinate contracted services and monitor all maintenance functions
  • Must be able to perform daily walk-arounds both inside and outside of the hotel
  • Must be able to assist and follow through on aesthetic improvement plans
  • Must be able to provide hands-on repairs on an as-needed basis
  • Must be able to demonstrate and promote SRHM's core value of the golden rule
  • Must be able to treat guests, vendors, and employees in the same way we would like to be treated
  • Must be able to assist in the planning and coordination of all functions of the maintenance department
  • Must be able to seek methods for completing repairs and accomplish same within maintenance tech's technical capabilities
  • Must be able to ensure the hotel is always in a clean, orderly, safe and attractive condition
  • Must be able to ensure adherence to schedule and quality
  • Must be able to monitor and schedule timely repairs and touch-ups in all areas that need attention
  • Must be able to maintain a safe and secure working environment, free of objects/situations that could cause harm and/or falls to guests, vendors, visitors and associates
  • Must be able to demonstrate a positive and respectful attitude about work issues, policies and procedures
