Job Summary
The Chief Engineer leads all engineering and maintenance functions for the opening AC Hotel in McKinney, directing preventive maintenance for guestrooms, public areas, back-of-house spaces, and building systems, while overseeing life safety, vendor relationships, and asset preservation. Plays a key role in the transition from construction to operations, including building turnover, commissioning, warranty administration, and pre-opening activities. Requires hands-on leadership, strong technical expertise across HVAC/electrical/plumbing/mechanical systems, budgeting and financial management, vendor management, and the ability to develop and enforce engineering standards to deliver safe, reliable, and guest-focused facilities.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 3–5 years of engineering, facilities management, or hotel maintenance leadership experience
- Marriott experience preferred
- Previous hotel opening, renovation, repositioning, or major capital project experience strongly preferred
- Experience supporting building commissioning, turnover, warranty management, and contractor coordination preferred
- Strong knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and life safety systems
- Experience managing vendors, service contracts, and capital improvement projects
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and construction documents
- Strong budgeting, forecasting, and financial management skills
- Excellent communication and leadership abilities
- EPA Certification, HVAC Certification, or related technical certifications preferred
- Certified Hotel Maintenance Employee (CHME) certification a plus
