Job Summary
Prepare food items by washing, cutting, weighing, and stocking supplies from cold or dry storage. Replenish shelves by checking expiration dates, dumping expired products, and setting up promotional displays. Maintain cleanliness in the food production area, hood filters, and aisles while washing all used equipment. Follow food safety and OSHA practices during processing and dishwashing. Assist customers with orders and answer questions, then complete checkouts accurately. Handle other duties as needed for business operations. Walk-ins welcome at 1500 Old Country Rd, Westbury, NY 11590.
Required Qualifications
- Able to work on Friday, Saturday & Sunday
- Ability to lift 30 lbs or more with appropriate equipment
- Good manual dexterity for the use of processing equipment such as cutter or labeling
- Standing for extended periods is commonly required
- Ability to visually identify product quality and freshness
- Good customer service skills
- Good time management skills
- Ability to follow instructions and procedures
- Willing to obtain or already have a food handling card
Desired Qualifications
- Previous kitchen, culinary, deli, restaurant, kitchen management, cooking or customer service experience
- Working knowledge of types of ingredients, vegetables, meats carried in the department
- Working knowledge of CAL-OSHA safety practices in the use of all dishwashing chemicals
