Job Summary
Senior Hot & Cold Technician leads field work in fast-paced commercial kitchens, diagnosing and repairing advanced cooking equipment (ovens, fryers, steamers, grills, ranges, kettles, combi ovens) and refrigeration systems (walk-ins, reach-ins, prep tables, ice machines). Responsible for high-quality diagnostics, complex repairs, and mentoring junior technicians, while maintaining safety, efficiency, and strong customer service. The role is customer-facing, requires deep technical expertise in commercial kitchen equipment and refrigeration systems, and involves on-call rotation and ongoing technical training to stay current with manufacturer updates and industry advancements. The position emphasizes independent field work, documentation of service calls, parts usage, labor hours, and effective communication with customers about system conditions and preventive maintenance strategies.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of commercial foodservice equipment and refrigeration service experience
- Strong expertise in commercial cooking equipment (gas, electric, steam)
- Solid refrigeration diagnostic skills (self-contained systems and walk-ins)
- EPA Universal Certification preferred (required if handling refrigerant)
- Manufacturer certifications and CFESA credentials are a plus
- Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams, service manuals, and technical schematics
- Valid drivers license with a clean driving record required
- Willingness to participate in on-call rotation
- Own industry standard hand tools
- Excellent communication and customer service abilities
- Ability to lift up to 50+ lbs. and work in varying indoor / outdoor conditions
- Willingness to climb ladders, work from heights, and crawl in tight quarters
