Hostler

Hostler at Roadrunner’s operations focusing on yard and dock movement of freight and equipment to maintain continuous dock flow. Responsible for shuttle of empty and loaded trailers, interpretation of work orders and instructions, alignment of trailer positioning with inbound/outbound schedules, and maintaining safety and organization in workspaces. Responsibilities include loading/unloading and transporting freight using forklifts and pallet jacks, securing loads, and verifying freight counts. Emphasizes safety, compliance, and operation of forklifts/hoisting equipment, with routine checks and hazard prevention. Requires coordination with dock supervisors to optimize workflow, adaptability to changing priorities, and clear cross-team communication. Requires a high school diploma or GED (or equivalent experience), 0–3 years in warehouse/logistics environments, forklift certification or ability to obtain certification, Hazardous Materials training or willingness to complete, ability to read safety/work orders, and basic math. Preferred: experience operating yard tractors or other material handling equipment and a mindset of safety-first, efficient execution, and teamwork.
