Job Summary
Host/Hostess greets guests immediately in a friendly manner and seats them at clean, dry tables using proper seating rotation; assists with taking initial beverage orders and describes promotions to upsell while seating guests. Responsible for assisting other service personnel to ensure total guest satisfaction, responding to and addressing guest concerns, and displaying Denny’s Guiding Principles. Maintains guest waiting list, follows seating procedures, and handles cash, credit card, and discounts transactions in accordance with safe cash-handling procedures. Provides courteous service, maintains lobby and foyer areas, completes required side-work including deep cleaning, and supports team members as needed. Requires strong product and menu knowledge, basic math skills, ability to operate the point of sale system, and the mobility to perform duties such as lifting up to 30 lbs, bending, reaching, and standing for the shift. Must communicate effectively in English, be dependable, and adhere to uniform, grooming standards, and flexible scheduling (including holidays, nights, and weekends). This role aligns with Denny’s brand standards and emphasizes guest-first service and teamwork.
Required Qualifications
- Must be able to raise a tray up to 25 lbs.
- Must be able to stand and walk for entire shift
