Job Summary
Greet arriving customers, escort them to assigned tables, and issue menus while accommodating special requests. Assign sections, notify servers of new seats, and circulate through the restaurant to assist with service, respond to customer requests, and assess operational efficiency. Process payments on the cash register, count change aloud, verify charge accuracy, and complete charge vouchers. Distribute checks to servers, balance daily revenues, and reconcile computerized and manual reports for the Accounting Department. Maintain a clean environment by performing vacuuming, sweeping, and table setup duties, while reporting maintenance discrepancies to management.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Previous experience of 3 months in a position with heavy cash handling responsibilities and customer service exposure
- Must have high school graduate level mathematical aptitude
- Must have general knowledge of basic customer service skills, restaurant operations, and food service principles
- Must be able to communicate verbally and in writing in English
- Must be able to follow written and verbal instruction
- Must be able to work on more than one task at a time
- Must be able to use tact and understanding when dealing with a variety of customer service problems, including stressful and highly emotional situations
- Must be able to handle coins and writing utensils
- Must be able to grasp handles
- Must be able to push buttons
- Must be able to carry dishes
- Must be able to lift and carry trays and bus tubs weighing up to 10lbs
- Must be able to stand throughout entire shift
- Must be able to lift arms above head to retrieve objects from shelves
- Must have vision ability to read written communiques, computer screens and print-outs
- Must have vision ability to see colors
- Must have vision ability to survey entire room in dimly lit conditions
