Job Summary

Conduct pre-shift and weekly meetings to ensure open communication between employees. Greet guests, accurately take reservations, and manage phone inquiries while maintaining a neat host stand. Track all covers per station, handle menu changeovers, and retrieve guest coats. Communicate effectively with servers regarding last-minute changes and special requests. Inform guests of departmental promotions and assist colleagues without compromising the dining experience. Complete all assigned duties before leaving the day.

Required Qualifications

  • Must be legally eligible to work in Canada
  • Previous work experience in a restaurant/food and beverage setting
  • Must be able to stand and walk constantly throughout a shift
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 30 lbs
  • Must be able to kneel, push, pull, and lift
  • Must be able to ascend or descend ladders, stairs, and ramps
  • Must be able to report to duty punctually
  • Must consistently offer personal and friendly service
  • Must have full knowledge of the menu, beverage lists in the outlet, and all other special promotions taking place in the hotel
  • Must ensure the host stand is kept neat and clean at all times
  • Must have a complete understanding of daily duties including seating and greeting guests, accurately taking reservations, handling phones, menu changeovers, newspaper pickup, checking mail, and filing log book entries
  • Must efficiently track all covers in the dining room per station
  • Must have general knowledge of the union agreement
  • Must be able to help guests meet their colleagues by properly using the waiting list form
  • Must attend all pre-shift, weekly, and monthly meetings
  • Must actively participate in health and safety procedures
  • Must have read and understood all hotel policies and procedures and departmental standards as outlined in the employee handbook
  • Must be able to carry out any miscellaneous duties pertaining to the total operation of the outlet as requested by the direct supervisor
  • Must be comfortable voicing opinions, suggestions, and comments on improving the operation of the Restaurant and ways to improve the guests experience
  • Must maintain teamwork and good work ethics with all guests (internal and external) by assisting co-workers with any duties
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with the servers regarding reservations, last minute changes, larger parties, and special requests
  • Must be able to offer guests coat check when necessary and retrieve guest coats when departing
  • Must be able to inform guests of departmental promotions
  • Must be able to complete all duties assigned before leaving for the day
