Job Summary
Greet guests promptly with a friendly, professional demeanor while managing reservations, waitlists, and seating assignments to ensure smooth restaurant flow. Escort guests to tables, provide menus, and communicate accurate wait times, coordinating with servers, bartenders, and kitchen staff for efficient service timing. Answer incoming phone calls, utilize online reservation tools to accept or modify bookings, and maintain cleanliness of the host stand, waiting area, and entryway. Monitor dining room activity, assist with special guest requests, and support service staff during busy periods by resetting tables or stocking menus. Report maintenance issues and maintain professionalism with coworkers and guests.
Required Qualifications
- Ability and willingness to work a varied and flexible schedule including weekends, days, nights, and holidays
- Must tolerate prolonged periods of standing, walking; occasional kneeling, bending, and stooping
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 25 pounds as needed to carry trays of food
- Ability to bend, reach, and move quickly in a high-traffic environment
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and remain composed under pressure
- Must tolerate exposure to cleaning solutions
Desired Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Previous customer service or restaurant experience is a plus but not required
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a guest-first mindset
- Professional appearance and positive attitude
- Ability to multitask, stay organized, and manage guest expectations
- Comfort using reservation and seating systems (e.g., OpenTable or similar)
